Honeylove Shapewear & Bras Review - What Savvy Said

Sharing to you my review of the Honeylove Shapewear & Bras - I think I understood the concept better than the execution. Categories Style

Thankfully, over the years, the idea of shapewear and it’s purpose in my wardrobe has evolved. And while we can and will have a much deeper conversation about how to find the right shapewear for your body type, the purpose of today’s chat is to take an in depth look at a brand I’ve been testing for the last 2 years: Honeylove.

I’ve seen ads in all the spaces: TV, podcast, influencer content, etc. But not in a way where it feels overly hyped. The kind of content you see get a big push (because everyone is getting the PR at the same time) and then quietly fades away.

Honeylove has been rather strategic and targeted with their growth. So today, let’s chat about the brand, the products I love and what I think you should know before shopping their site.

The Truth About Honeylove

Honeylove in general embodies a brand that wants to marry comfort with confidence. For many, myself included, shapewear has been shown as the photoshop of the normal world. People LAYER these pieces to create new shapes and versions of their body.

Honeylove is not that vibe. The pieces are created to shape, hold and function with high quality material that wears beautifully time after time. That being said, if you’re looking for a more dramatic (a la Kardashian) effect, Honeylove is probably not for you.

How Does Honeylove Shapewear Work?

The best way I can attribute Honeylove shapewear is as something supportive, sturdy and lasting. If you look at the details of the lower body shapewear, you’ll see compression bands across the stomach, along the thighs and under the butt. Anywhere you’d ideally want to be tucked and lifted, the shapewear is doing the work.

It does a beautiful job at smoothing. Back rolls and lumpy thighs (my personal struggle) are swept away with the right shapewear products. And the fit is perfect nearly every time.

What Makes Honeylove Shapewear Unique?

Aside from the marketing, the three biggest things I’ve noticed that set apart shapewear brands: the fit, the price and the material.

I’ve gotten pieces on the lower end of the scale that are a heavier material and weren’t the most all weather appropriate (hello Florida summers). I’ve worn shapewear that’s a lighter material with less targeted shaping that ultimately with rolls down, gets holes from my nails or all together rips apart after a year or so of use.

With Honeylove, the shapewear has more compression (which you want) but it means you need to get your sizing right because the extra stretch just won’t exist like with other brands.

The brand’s sizing guide on the website is highly accurate and a great help with this.

But of all the brands I’ve tried, I think Honeylove is probably the most curve friendly. I talk about this A LOT on the blog but most brands do a crap job at knowing how curves work and where you need to adjust fit for actual curves (larger hips, thighs and butts).

Despite the marketing of brands with “curvy” models, having a product that doesn’t absolutely dig into the hips or create weird shapes on the sides of the body is rare.

I was shocked to try on the Honeylove bodysuit and realize it actually fit my butt. The fabric laid down without creating some new diaper shape. It was perfect.

Honeylove vs Other Brands

The price point is probably what you’ll notice upfront. Honeylove pieces are an investment but one that gives you a solid return for the cost.

But if we’re comparing to other brands, I think Honeylove is more consistent with it’s product.

I adore 2 of the other popular shapewear affiliated brands but their shapewear is probably lowest on the totem pole of my favorite/most repurchased products.

With Honeylove, you can see the consistency of quality and fit no matter the style of product.

Other brands have shapewear at all kinds of prices ($30 – $90) and it can be harder to gauge the quality or right product for you. And that lack of consistency makes it challenging to find shapewear that won’t drive you crazy all day or just not get the job done right.

The Best Pieces From Honeylove

The Bra

I own and wear 3 staple pieces, but will happily invest in more. The Honeylove bra is a game changer, and I don’t mean that casually. I am notorious for wearing athleisure or outfits that require unique bras. So when I do wear a normal bra, I’m not about to sacrifice things look good AND feeling amazing.

One of my go-to looks is the fitted Skims style tops from Amazon that will call out every roll of back fat without hesitation. And the Honeylove bra is the only one I’ve ever worn that A. Doesn’t suddenly give me back fat & rolls after putting it on B. Never fails me in a tight top.

It doesn’t pull so snugly that it’s creating more rolls, but keeps everything smooth while also being insanely comfortable.

The Bodysuit

There are three things that will keep me from wearing a bodysuit: a weird bra situation, the fit not being right, and the clasp situation underneath being a nightmare.

Again, none of those issues exist here, but I do think that heavily comes into play with just how accurate their sizing guide is. You could wear the bodysuit underneath for support. But it’s lovely worn with something sheer and being shown off.

The Shapewear

As someone with a shorter torso, the extra coverage on the top of shapewear often creates problems. It’s the first place to roll, the first thing that bugs the crap of out me and often I can’t situate it properly to save my life.

Now, there are a ton of lower shapewear options from Honeylove. The one I wear most often is the mid-wear short. My singular caveat for this piece would but that it’s often too long in the legs, and I would probably be better served to invest & tailor a 2nd pair.

But it hits perfectly on my waist, never rolls, and has kept its quality after tons of use. It does, however, have a pee hole that I don’t use, but will require additional adjusting to get everything in place.

The compression does mean there are also thinner spaces of fabric, so it’s best to pull the shapewear into place like you would tights if you want to avoid a rip.

All in all, I think it’s easy to see that I’m a fan of Honeylove because they’ve given us all the right reasons to trust their products.
